With the goal of unifying the profession and providing quality healthcare to Ontarians, a group of Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) incorporated in October 1950 to form the Naturopathic Doctors Ontario (NDO). At this time, Ontario was the first province in the country to regulate Drugless Therapists. Since the inception of the OAND, NDs have dedicated themselves to improving the health and lives of patients across the province. Sixty years later the Naturopathic profession in Ontario was recently awarded prescribing rights and is awaiting the opening of the new College of Naturopaths.
The NDO supports Naturopathic Doctors as integral partners in the healthcare system by:
– Leading and representing the profession’s interests
– Advancing Naturopathic Medicine by fostering clinical excellence in patient centered care
– Promoting the success of Naturopathic Doctors through public awareness and education.
Naturopathic Doctors in Ontario have always supported a strong provincial association and this commitment has never been more important as we enter into a new regulatory framework with all the other health professions. To ensure the ongoing growth and strength of the association, the OAND Board commits to strengthening the mechanisms by which individual members link themselves to the work of the association.
